Except when specified otherwise, these SUPINFO Company Policies and Procedures are valid for each student of the Paris Academy of Computer Science, hereafter called "SUPINFO", whatever its location and the site from which the student is following his studies. By signing the pre inscription bulletin and validating on-line the final inscription bulletin with Campus-Booster, each SUPINFO student automatically agrees to comply with these rules as well as those related to the use of the computer network of the school, hereafter called "SGN" (SUPINFO Global Network), including the conditions of use and of copyright of the Internet sites of the school, and with the rules concerning the respect of privacy. The articles related to these rules are published as hyperlinks at the end of this page. Each SUPINFO student, by validating the on-line confirmation section of the bulletin of inscription with Campus-Booster, acknowledges having consulted them.
General Behaviour
SUPINFO is very serious about respecting the values which make up the spirit of the school. Thus, signing the pre inscription bulletin and validating with Campus-Booster the on line final inscription bulletin implies, in particular, a great respect for the teachers, the staff, other students, the equipment and buildings - a respect of others in general, and of the school in particular. Any behaviour - be it physical, verbal or written, spontaneous or planned, direct or indirect, generalised or specifically targeting a third party, which is considered as illegal, threatening, insulting, defamatory, obscene, libellous, abusive, racist, xenophobic, sexist, homophobic, violent or pornographic, or which contravenes any legislation or is generally considered unacceptable by SUPINFO, with or without intention of fraud, will be immediately followed by a definitive expulsion with no recourse to appeal after a disciplinary hearing which may also be followed by legal proceedings. SUPINFO has the right to refuse entry to any student whose behaviour or dress would not be considered acceptable.
Each SUPINFO student accepts in advance the dress code which can be applied at any time during the year - in particular the wearing of a suit or tie during special events in the school such as the presentations of projects or oral examinations, and, more generally, during any presentation in front of a jury. In the same way, any teacher or administrative staff of the school may ask a student whose behaviour, language or dress would not be in conformity with the established rules, to leave the classroom or examination room.
If it is normal that the students seek to inform themselves about the kinds of things that can contribute to developing their personality, both on the professional and civic level as well as on the moral level, nevertheless, any militant activity, whether political or religious, is strictly prohibited within SUPINFO. Consequently, any posting and/or distribution of documents which can be used to support a possible militant action are forbidden. Anyone contravening this rule will leave himself open to sanctions which could end in exclusion from the school without recourse to an appeal.
SUPINFO Student Card and Access to the Buildings
To prove his status as a SUPINFO student and to gain entry to the school buildings, each student will be furnished with an International Student Identity Card (ISIC) giving the right to individual personalized access to the buildings of all the sites of SUPINFO in Metropolitan France and in the DOM (French Departments and Territories) while valid - provided that the student has had no prohibitions or disciplinary action taken against him. All use of this card within the school or for the needs of the Administration - in particular during examinations - can be automatically or manually checked with a record of its use kept in a database. For security reasons, all SUPINFO sites in France and in the DOM are under video surveillance in accordance with existing legislation, and a security guard service is permanently available evenings and weekends. It is strictly forbidden to falsify, duplicate, lend, give or sell the SUPINFO ISIC student card. A student may be held responsible for any incident of non-compliance with these rules. The SUPINFO ISIC student access card remains the property of the school and a student is expected to signal its disappearance as soon as possible in the event of loss or of theft. For which the student may be held responsible. In the event of loss or theft, a new card can be given out for a fee of 15 Euros. All students may be subject to card or identity controls as well as to bag inspections against theft by the security staff within the school premises of SUPINFO in France and in the DOM . It is strictly forbidden at any time to allow access of non-students to the buildings with a SUPINFO student card without preliminary authorization. Besides expulsion without appeal, students may be held legally responsible for any detrimental acts concerning the school, its staff and its students.
Respect of the Buildings, the Equipment and the Network
No meal, snack or drink may be taken into the classroom, computer room, at the reception desk or in the corridors. Any transportation of food or drink is strictly forbidden inside any and all SUPINFO schools except in designated areas. Any stealing, modification of administrative posters, damage to the equipment or the buildings will be sanctioned with a disciplinary hearing which may end in definitive expulsion.
For security reasons, and in accordance with the law, it is formally forbidden to smoke within the school. This prohibition is from now on valid within the courtyard and within the buildings of the establishment at all the SUPINFO sites around the world. In this context, it is strictly forbidden to throw cigarettes in the courtyard or into the buildings. Access to the Administrative photocopiers, to the offices of the persons in charge of the computer rooms, to the computing center - hereafter called "SIS" (SUPINFO System Information) - to the computer equipment of the administrative offices is formally forbidden to the students except with the express authorization of the administration. It is the same for the use of IP phones (Internet Protocol) of the school to contact external third parties and for non-teaching uses. The use of the computing resources of the school is subject to the rules of the SGN and generally to the school’s code of software ethics.
Unauthorized duplication of the computing software (which is protected by legislation concerning royalties) constitutes a criminal offence and is against the rules and the uses of our school. We disapprove such uses and adopt the following principles as bases for our action against such acts:
We will not tolerate nor take part in the creation or in the use of unauthorized copies of software. Students may be held responsible for failure to abide by this rule. We will meet any justified need to equip all the computers within a reasonable time period and in sufficient quantity using legally acquired software for which the rights of use are subjected to partnerships signed directly with the software creators. We will observe the purchasing conditions or the licensing conditions of partnerships governing the use of any software developed by third parties and protected by legislation, or used by the administration of the school for teaching purposes. We will apply a rigorous policy of internal audits to prevent the creation or the use of unauthorized copies of software, by monitoring compliance with these rules and by sanctioning severely any failure to comply.
For teaching purposes and so as to allow the students a certain liberty of action concerning the equipment of the school, the establishment has voluntarily not adopted too strict a policy regarding security access to the teaching servers and the SIS. However, any attempt by a student at hacking or at violating the rights of access - with or without intention of fraud - will be immediately followed by definitive expulsion without appeal after a disciplinary hearing, and may also be followed by legal action.
Students may make enquiries to the secretaries or to the regional directors of the SUPINFO sites from 9am to 5pm, to regulate problems of a scholastic or administrative nature. If necessary, the SUPINFO staff will give an appointment with the appropriate people in charge. Any request for a document is subject to a minimum 48-hour delay.
The introduction within the establishment of any weapon whatsoever will be sanctioned by an immediate and definitive exclusion without appeal. It is the same for any use, possession or sale of any kind of drug within the establishment or in its immediate vicinity. Each student found in a state of inebriation or under the influence of drugs within the school will be sanctioned by immediate and definitive exclusion without appeal. The introduction or the use of any software for the hacking of internal information systems within or outside the school is strictly prohibited. Any impediment to the access rights to an information system on whatever network will result in definitive expulsion without appeal as well as the possibility of legal action being taken.
Any possession or use of alcohol inside the buildings of the school or on the premises of the school associations is strictly prohibited. In no case can the school be held responsible for any excessive behaviour or incidents of any nature related to the possible consumption of alcohol or drugs. In the event of a breach of these rules, heavy sanctions will be applied, including the possibility of definitive expulsion.
Video-surveillance
For reasons of safety, all the sites of SUPINFO in Metropolitan France and in the DOM are under surveillance with video recordings in accordance with the legislation in force and a team of security guards is present in the buildings and can carry out identity checks.
Those who have been thus caught on video may exert their right of access to the images recorded while following the procedures indicated on posters present on all the SUPINFO sites in Metropolitan France and in the DOMS. All the images are stored at the Parisian headquarters of SUPINFO, and students can thus write to:
The Person in charge of video-surveillance,
SUPINFO Paris
23 rue du Chateau Landon
F-75010 Paris
Request forms for access to the images of the video-surveillance unit are also available on request to the SUPINFO Information Systems Department (SIS) of each site or by mall to this address: sis@supinfo.com. A reply to all requests for access will be made within 5 working days and an appointment will be taken with the student in order to enable him to exert his right of access.
Respect of the Courses and Presence
A weekly timetable is available on the Intranet website of the school for which each SUPINFO student receives an individual access code. This website is called hereafter "Campus-Booster". Each student is expected to consult this information regularly, as it is subject to modification without notice. Each student will be given a personal e-mail address for the supinfo.com domain. The teachers and the administration of the school use this means to transmit strategic and important information. Each SUPINFO student is expected, during his studies, to consult regularly and at least once daily, both his electronic messages and the "Campus-Booster" website in order to remain informed of his schedule, his examinations, the important events which relate to it, his appointments, and, more generally, his classes within the school. Neither the administration nor the teachers will be held responsible if the student has not consulted his emails or the "Campus-Booster" website, thereby missing important information which might have been communicated to him by these means. Thus, SUPINFO provides broad access to its messaging system and its website via a simple Internet connection and a simple web-browser.
Presence in class, study groups, projects and meetings inside companies are considered obligatory. Any absence must be signalled in advance or justified within 48 hours by an official document (medical certificate, letter from an interviewer, or special excuse given by the parents, administration or a teacher etc.) or by a letter from the parents or the student’s guardian. Any such documents provided after more than 48 hours might not be taken into account. Any student wishing to miss a class for whatever reason must first obtain permission from the administration or the teacher. Repetitious absences may result in punishment going from a warning to definitive expulsion without appeal. All unjustified absences of more than two consecutive weeks or totalling two weeks will involve a breach of the schooling contract. All sums remaining due to the establishment will thus have to be paid, without the student necessarily being authorized to return to classes. Each student will thus be invited to explain himself, if need be, directly to the teacher or to the administration.
It is imperative that the students arrive in class at least 5 minutes before the appointed hour. Students who arrive late for a class –whether a formal one or a “directed homework class” - will not be authorized to enter and the teacher may file a complaint which could result in disciplinary action including possible temporary expulsion.
Students are not authorized to move around or leave the room, of course, before the end of a class, except by special permission of the teacher or in the event of a justifiable urgency. The use during the class of cell-phones (even in vibrator mode or SMS) or other such devices which might disturb the class are strictly prohibited and may result in sanctions including permanent expulsion. The use in class of laptop computers for any purpose other than scholastic - in particular for use in playing games, listening to music or watching videos - are strictly prohibited and may result in sanctions including permanent expulsion.
Tests, Examinations, Academic Presentations and Evaluations
The examinations and evaluations, tests, projects and oral presentations are obligatory. The internship at the end of the year is obligatory. The partnerships alternatively with companies during the academic year are optional. The training courses or partnerships in alternation can be monitored by the administration of the school. Any absence to a test is sanctioned by a zero mark. In the event of an absence to a test, an official excuse must be provided obligatorily within 48 hours or a special agreement must be made in advance with the administration. It must imperatively be shown that the absence could not have been scheduled at another time. If no official document has been presented to or accepted by the administration, the student will be sanctioned by a zero mark, whatever the reason for his absence. Moreover, a disciplinary action may take place and lead to a definitive expulsion without appeal. An absent student who has provided an explanatory and officially recognized document within 48 hours will possibly be given the chance, after evaluation and on decision of the administration, for a remedial session.
Tests and evaluations can be held during a class by the teachers, as a mode of continuous assessment and, possibly, without preliminary warning. In the event of an absence during these "surprise" tests, an explanatory official document must be provided as for any regular test or class. It is thus imperative to attend all classes.
Lateness will not be tolerated for tests or oral exams and access to exam rooms will be forbidden after the beginning of the tests. It is thus imperative to be present at least 10 minutes before the planned time for the test. Tests may be given to various groups chosen by the administration of the school. In this case, no change of group will be tolerated. Any attempt will result in disciplinary action which may result in sanctions including permanent expulsion.
At the beginning of a test, the student must prove his identity by showing his SUPINFO ISIC student card to the supervisors. No other form of identity will be accepted to participate in the test. It is thus imperative make sure ahead of time that you are in possession of a valid ISIC card.
If the card is lost, stolen or destroyed, the student must make an official declaration, order a new card against payment of a fixed price 15 Euros, and obtain a temporary pass before the beginning of the test in order to ensure that he will be able to begin on time. No delay will be tolerated if the student is held up by the school Administration while declaring a loss, theft or destruction of his ISIC card.
During all tests, any departure from the classroom must be final. At the end of the test, the student must exchange his test paper for his ISIC card or special pass, and will only get his test paper back after correction of same.
Students are expected to behave correctly towards the supervisory staff who have the role of ensuring that the test passes without incident. Any cheating or attempt at cheating will be sanctioned by permanent expulsion without possibility of appeal.
Copies of tests and exams will be given out in class according to subject. Each student is expected to be present on the day exam papers are returned. In all cases, students will have seven days after the return of test papers in which to dispute a mark. After this date, no further complaints will be accepted.
All complaints, no matter from which school site, must be addressed to the school via registered letter and sent to:
SUPINFO Paris
Service de la schooling
23, rue de Château Landon
75010 Paris
Security Instructions
All the personnel and the students must conform to the evacuation and security instructions indicated on the safety posters located in the buildings and corridors of SUPINFO. As soon as an alarm sounds, students must leave the buildings calmly while following their teacher’s instructions and regroup in designated areas so that their presence may be noted.
Sanctions
The Management of SUPINFO is in charge of making sure that all rules and regulations be followed to the letter, while recognizing that they may be called upon to modify existing rules or create annexes to the Rules of Procedure.
In the event of infringement of these Rules of Procedure and any possible annexes to them, sanctions may be applied:
1. By the President of SUPINFO or his designated representative:
- a written warning
- a temporary expulsion
- a permanent expulsion for cases deemed so without recourse to an appeal
2. By the Disciplinary Board:
The Board may decide to apply any sanction considered necessary up to and including permanent expulsion.
The Disciplinary Board is composed of at least one representative of the Management of SUPINFO and a Class Representative. The Board can, where necessary, meet physically in Paris or at one of the other SUPINFO sites, or be held by using one of the communications possibilities at their disposal. Within seven days after reception of notification of a sanction, the student in question may make an official protest via registered letter addressed to the President of SUPINFO.
The President of SUPINFO, assisted if necessary by the Disciplinary Board, reserves the right to settle questions which can arise and which are not covered by the present Rules of Procedure within the limits of the legislative and regulatory provisions in force.
