"What’s more normal than a Computer Sciences school which uses computers to teach with?"
SUPINFO makes use of Computer-Assisted Learning: a high availability of technical documentation on data-processing stations, a broad choice of software and programming tools, pedagogical information on SUPINFO’s Intranet system, advanced research systems, multi-media courses continuously available which include movies, sound and visual demonstrations.
"The strength of a connected community..."
From now on, with SUPINFO, all these technologies are integrated into the teaching system. Added to them is an intensive use of Groupware tools, starting with electronic messaging (e-mail) - which makes it possible to preserve a suitable communication with the professors, tutors or teaching assistants – in conjunction with the use of our Campus Booster portal which connects everyone around the world. In the same way, the general work carried out in the laboratories and published on the Intranet site makes it possible to better share the results with everyone. This sharing of knowledge is therefore possible not only between all the SUPINFO students but also with students from various Universities and other schools and even with professionals in the working world.
At SUPINFO, it is teamwork which conveys the spirit of the school. All of the courses given by the teachers use video projection and wireless Tablet PC. Whatever the professor—free to roam the classroom at will - write with his pen on the PC tablet is projected on a large screen, and the images of this "virtual tablet" are then delivered to the students at the end of the course in the form of computer files. Thus, all the classrooms are equipped with a multi-media system of video projection on large screens connected to the data-processing network of the school.
"E-Learning used for language training..."
Added to this are on-line demonstrations, examples, documents and exercises placed on the school’s network The whole of this base of knowledge then remains available permanently 24h/24h to all the students. The use of e-learning is intensive, notably for language training. Although English is obligatory, the students can also learn German, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Arabic, Chinese and Japanese.

The "Campus-Booster" portal constantly allows the students to remain connected with the other members of the school, to be informed about future events, to be alerted on the next examinations, to consult the course schedule and to remain linked to the other members of the SUPINFO world community. It is also the way to access the entire range of course-support documents.
All of the data-processing resources of the school are a part of an information systems “pole” called the "SUPINFO Information System" or, more simply, SIS. Within this pole, a team of students -governed by the school’s Administration - concerns itself specifically with the management of the information system (networks, servers, and services) and of the resources related to pedagogy. This team has always largely consisted of student assistants acting under the control of the Management of the Information systems of the school.
The students of SUPINFO, particularly dynamic and motivated, quickly gain good technical and general skills and prove themselves to be rigorously professional. During their studies, several years spent in the SIS department bring to the students major experience in managing systems and heterogeneous data-processing networks at an international company level.
To improve the information supply of all the students, an arsenal of more than 70 departmental servers is managed throughout the world. They contain several hundreds gigabytes of data which circulate at high speed on a modern network with 1Gb and 100 Mbs bandwidth. The exceptional band-width reserved for Internet access should be noted: 100 mega in Paris ensuring the accommodation of certain servers and several optical fiber connections of 20 Megabytes supplement the entire unit.

"Liberty, efficiency and autonomy by means of a laptop for every student" At SUPINFO, all the students are equipped with laptop computers connected to the school’s global network (SUPINFO Global Network or SGN) via WiFi access. This is the SUPINFO Wireless Network (SWN). Students can work, consult their e-mails, chat with the international SUPINFO community from anywhere in their school to any of the other schools, without constraints. Having your own laptop in a in a computer school has many advantages: the student is the only “administrator" of his machine and decides which operating system will be used: Windows, Linux, Mac Os, etc... The student is therefore not tied to any obsolete data system and doesn’t have to worry about not being able to co-ordinate systems which work at the school but not at his own home.
