SUPINFO Aquitaine in Bayonne

SUPINFO announces the opening of its Bayonne site in 2011.

Thanks to its strong presence, SUPINFO has established regional offices on the national territory for many years.  Today SUPINFO affirms its desire to expand by opening SUPINFO Aquitaine in Bayonne by 2011, thus allowing young students to pursue professional IT studies in their region

Many students from Bayonne have already enrolled with SUPINFO Aquitaine in Bordeaux: they can now study in Bayonne itself.

Through this launch, SUPINFO completes its national presence by responding to the high demands of SUPINFO schools in the South West.

High-speed internet access, WiFi access wired with a landline network, VoIP...The students in Bayonne will therefore benefit from the same technological resources as those in the other SUPINFO sites in France, China, Canada, the United Kingdom and the rest of the world.

Similarly, the courses and educational content will be delivered to the same global SUPINFO standard: in fact, at the end of their course, the students of SUPINFO Aquitaine in Bayonne will be awarded the SUPINFO Paris diploma and it will only be achieved by adhering to the high-quality standards set by SUPINFO.

SUPINFO Aquitaine in Bayonne will be an integral part of the global network of SUPINFO, thus enabling its students to fully take advantage of the mobility opportunities offered by SUPINFO:  they can freely choose at which of the various SUPINFO sites they wish to study.  They can even visit different SUPINFO sites, throughout the academic year, attending classes for a few days or even weeks.

Morevoer, in order to ensure the uniformity of training delivered to the students in Bayonne, all the SUPINFO laboratories will be supplied with equipment from the world IT leaders (Microsoft, Cisco, IBM, Apple, Mandriva, Sun, Novell, Oracle...) and will be open at the beginning of the school term.

The full 5-year curriculum of the SUPINFO International Master of Science will be available in Bayonne within a maximum delay of 3 years after its opening.

A few words about Bayonne

Bayonne is a commune of the Pyrénées-Atlantiques department and has joined into an intercommunal entity called the "Communauté d'agglomération de BAB (Bayonne-Anglet-Biarritz)": BAB has a population of 150,000 inhabitants.  Nestled near the border of Pays Basque, Bayonne enjoys an exceptional location: in the heart of the old town in front of the theatre, is the confluence of the Nive and Adour rivers.

Famous for its beautifully restored old houses, docks, museums, castles and its citadel, Bayonne is also known for its traditions: the ham market, its famous chocolate - it is even said that Bayonne is the Capital of Chocolate -, the Theatre Festival, the Festivals which  take place in August and are considered to be the biggest events in France, pelota, rugby, rowing...

A town of character, its motto Nunquam Polluta - "never polluted" - is here to remind you that it triumphantly withstood 14 sieges.  An open city, looking forward to the future, it represents the economic, administrative and cultural capital of the whole region.

With its monuments of military, civil and religious architecture, in addition to an entire underground city of medieval origin which is very rare in France (over 130 caves), with a uniquely harmonious urban landscape, Bayonne is definitely worth a visit.

Last but not least, food lovers are well aware of Bayonne's finest ham and the fact that the town was the first in France to cultivate cocoa in the seventeenth century.  Consequently, the market in Bayonne is considered to be one of the best.  There is an abundance of wonderful products: cheese made of ewes milk  from Pays Basque, baby lamb, elver (deep-fried eels), conserves, foie gras and fresh fish...
