SUPINFO on iTunes U
A wonderful opportunity to discover and
share university information
Paris, 13 January 2009. SUPINFO is the first French school of engineering and one of the first worldwide to be on iTunes U.
SUPINFO International University has joined the leading universities of the world to offer free access to their teaching resources on iTunes U, a space dedicated to the free educational contents of the iTunes Store.
For several years, SUPINFO International University has developed for its students its own numerical campus. In this way the entire teaching support became accessible to students thus freeing them from constraints of time or place. Accessing the teaching resources, continuing to learn and practise outside the classroom are the norm for the students in our specialist field: Technologies and Information Systems (TSI). The elaboration of teaching contents, which is continuously updated, is carried out by 10 Laboratories created in close partnership with the professional leaders in the TSI sector (Apple, Microsoft, Oracle, Cisco, IBM, Novell,…). To make communication and information technologies available to training providers constitutes a permanent basis of SUPINFO’s teaching policy. The students benefit from the top level, high quality training contents which are currently provided at 33 SUPINFO campuses in France and worldwide.
With iTunes U, a new stage is reached in the method of distribution and access to the SUPINFO training contents. Widening of the access to these contents and increasing their sources of diffusion characterize this new era. The sharing of knowledge and information in the field of TSI is thus more widespread. Current students, future students and graduates will all be able to benefit from the multi-media resources offered by SUPINFO on iTunes U. The contents are in French which highlights a desire to contribute to the increase in the use of this language. Some contents will be in English however to reflect SUPINFO’s international expansion.
“Think and Learn outside the classroom”: SUPINFO on iTunes U is the embodiment of the objective of this innovative teaching method which closely links the expertise and the know-how of the teacher with the permanent training of the student. “iTunes U allows us to share knowledge with many people, to increase the visibility of the multi-media contents produced by SUPINFO. This will constitute an additional method of continuing to improve our teaching model” states Thierry Boidart, Managing Director in charge of academic affairs at SUPINFO International University.
