Preamble
SUPINFO has invested heavily to set up, maintain and develop its resources, and its computing and telephone network is converging around the world. All the sites of SUPINFO France, DOM (French departments and territories), Europe, Africa and Asia are permanently linked by high bandwidth connections. Everywhere in the world, the SUPINFO computing network, internal telephone system, videoconferencing, video-surveillance, and services are identical by using Internet technologies which allow SUPINFO to handle its activities of higher education locally in France and aroundthe world. The use of the SGN in all its forms, both inside and outside SUPINFO - including via VPN (Virtual Private Network), Internet, telephone and electronic mail - is authorized only within the limits of the law, ethics, and the principles and the values of the Paris Academy of Computer Science. This is why these rules concerning SGN are addressed to both those who, by contract, are committed to respecting the SUPINFO rules of procedure, as well as to all the users of the network of the school and, more generally, to all those having a mission or a function related to SUPINFO, as well as the students, parents, teachers, staff and the industrial partners of the school.
Content
Whatever the means used, the contents stored and broadcast on the SGN must be inconformity with the law, the moral principles, the dignity and the reputation of SUPINFO, its Management, its members, its students, its employees and its partners. More particularly, the information published by e-mail which uses a domain name managed by SUPINFO (like supinfo.com for example) - including the domain names of the teaching laboratories like labo-microsoft.com for example or remote sites, subsidiaries or other entities of SUPINFO – as well as the information published on personal disk folders, shared disk folders, on personal Web pages hosted on the SGN (blogs or others), and personal web pages, and on the SUPINFO extranet called "Campus-Booster", on advertisements, news pages and public forums, (using "Campus-Booster" technology or not - either in an identified or anonymous manner ) must be legal, reliable and exact. Prohibited in particular are defamatory, libellous, abusive, racist, xenophobic, sexist, homophobic, violent or pornographic remarks. Generally, broadcast information must, in particular, respect the French laws concerning computer-processed data and procedures. The legislation on data and royalties protection must be respected by all the users of the SGN – a fact which excludes the broadcasting or use on the company network of programs or data without licenses or special permits for any and all applications, games, utilities, music, videos etc. which have been downloaded from the SGN or broadcast by using the SGN. In accordance with existing legislation, any user of the information system of SUPINFO has the right to view directly all information concerning him in our database or on "Campus-Booster". In this context, each user has the right and the possibility of asking for a correction of the data in question or of deciding how much of the information on him will be made public.
Access To The Information Stored Or Disseminated Through The SGN
Access to the information stored and broadcast via the SGN depends on the use of one or more accounts made up of a log-in and a password. This information is personal and confidential. Any user of the SGN runs the risk - if he loses or disseminates this information – of being held accountable for any resulting actions taken by a third party. In the event of loss or of doubt, it is highly advised to change one’s password regularly and/or to ask the computing department of the school to do it for you.
Except with the express and written authorization of another user, a user of the SGN has access - thanks to the use of his accounts - only to the personal or collective information accorded to him by his status and his missions within the company. This includes access - among others – to the e-mails, the schedules, the tasks, the marks, the data files, the projects, the course supports, the various servers with their files and shared files, the internet/intranet/extranet Websites, the FTP sites, the administration zones for the laboratories, the forums, and to "Campus-Booster". It is, of course, forbidden to possess, try to possess or to intercept - by any means - the data to which one should not have access with one’s accounts. The use of the SGN with a personal computer (laptop or computer of an association) is subject to a preliminary obligatory declaration to the computing department of SUPINFO of the MAC address of all the network cards likely to be connected on the SGN including via the wireless network. It is strictly prohibited, except by special permission from the computing departments of the school, to use a single identifier network (IP addresses), whatever its form, on the SGN network. Only the TCP/IP network configurations having recourse to a DHCP server are authorized. We ask the users of the SGN whose computers are connected to the local area network of the school to be particularly vigilant when installing and/or using all programs capable of helping with the hacking of information or disturbance of the network. This includes, among other things, the use conscious or not, of viruses, port scans utilities, DNS servers or DHCP servers. Each user of the SGN network is responsible for the good administration of the operating systems installed. He can be held responsible for any damage and/or attempts for direct or remote hackings whether or not using programs installed on his computer or by using his computer as a vector, and must take the precaution of using firewalls or up-to-date personal antivirus systems. The computing department of the school can help these users to configure and protect their personal computers by providing advice and publications without any commitment on the part of SUPINFO. In accordance with existing legislation, access by a user of the SGN - even if he is a member of the administration or the computing departments of the school - to the private e-mail of a third party constitutes an offence under the terms of French law and is strictly forbidden without preliminary authorization.
However, the use of the SGN computing network for purely private needs by students, employees, volunteers, parents, teachers or corporate partners is, in principle, forbidden, and thus, is strongly discouraged. Exceptionally, use of the telephone for local calls is tolerated within reason, despite the systematic prohibition of use of the resources of the school for private ends. All of the data placed by an SGN user in the spaces put at his disposal on the computing network of the school is considered, according to the rules, to be of a non-private character and thus purely teaching- or professionally-related to the studies or the missions demanded by the school. In this context, we wish to inform the users of the SGN that the Management or the Computing Department of the school has the right to access and read - for professional, maintenance, administrative or safety purposes - all of the data contained in the aforementioned storage spaces for material pertaining to the school as well as to information bulletins dealing with the aforementioned data. The telephone system of the school, which is meant to serve only teaching and professional needs, uses the same network as the computing system; we therefore wish to inform the users that all information used on this network may be monitored or recorded. We advise the users of the SGN to be aware of this fact, and not to use the network, the mails and storage spaces of the school for data which they consider private and confidential. It is advisable, in this case, to store such data on their personal computer and to use a private e-mail address which is different from the one available on a site managed by SUPINFO (including the laboratory sites).
Disseminating Information
The dissemination of advertising, or purely personal information not having a link with an official activity related to the school, is strictly prohibited. Users must be particularly careful in their use of official mailing lists - internal or external - to the establishment, on the one hand; and on the other hand, take care in their use of the e-mail directory. Recourse to massive mailings of information (spam), while using directly or indirectly the SGN is strictly prohibited.
Intellectual Property / Copyrights
SUPINFO has widespread rights to the duplication and diffusion of all teaching documents or of projects produced or carried out by the students, employees, teachers or corporate partners of SUPINFO and which have been published by their authors on the SGN, whatever the publication method (e-mail, forums, FTP, Web, storage spaces, "Campus-Booster" etc). In the case of SGN dissemination by a user of work already protected (texts, programs, images) by another author, it is recommended to credit the author concerning the partial or integral use of his work after having obtained authorization for its use. In this last case, it is highly recommended, except with written authorization by the author, to print a link to the document rather than to copy it. It is forbidden to disseminate on the SGN a third party’s work without written authorization. If these works are protected, it is advisable to inform the SUPINFO Management of it before dissemination, so the school can respect the rules and, if need be, pay for the necessary rights.
It is forbidden to broadcast confidential or significant information of SUPINFO or all its structures or additional activities without preliminary consultation of the Management of the establishment. This is all the more valid for all teaching and research work because the broadcast of information on Internet could involve the loss of the qualification of anteriority, essential condition of the patentability on research with industrial application. Such behaviour could attack the scientific and/or economic interests of SUPINFO and/or its partners and constitute a heavy fault. Prohibition also relates to the data confidentiality and the treatment of files related on the school, its students, the parents, the employees, the teachers or having a link with administrations, partners or with companies including at the time of mandates of studies and developments.
Application Of Copyright Legislation And Controls
In order to guarantee the copyright principles stated above, the Management and the computing departments of SUPINFO can regularly carry out accuracy checks without any notice.
Violation Of Procedural Rules
Any serious or repeated violation of these stated procedural rules may involve the immediate withdrawal of access to the computing resources of SUPINFO as well as the possibility of other sanctions. Moreover, all violations will be reported to the academic and/or administrative authorities for serious and immediate disciplinary action. Depending on the seriousness of the violations, SUPINFO can naturally, on top of the application of internal punishments, take legal action as well.
