The Banque Postale and IBM (NYSE: IBM) have entered a partnership to train students within SUPINFO on mainframe technologies. One course will be taught each year for the next three years.
Courses are held between November and March and allow 20 students in their last year of studies at SUPINFO to benefit from additional training on IBM zSystem mainframe platforms.
The association between IBM and the Banque Postale offers students the unique opportunity to receive training on both the functional and technical aspects linked to the use of large systems at the heart of a banks information system.
Thus, IBM, the Banque Postale and SUPINFO answer the needs of the market for specialists in large system technologies in a world which is today suffering from a shortage of specialists and which needs new competences.
This operation follows what has been done in France since 2005 in partnership with two other schools, EPITA and ESIAL and is in line with the international program put in place by IBM two years ago with a goal to train 20,000 students in mainframe before 2010.
This wish to train more students on mainframe is mirrored by their recent announcement to invest $100 million to make the use of IBM z-System available to all (through the development of software tools simplifying the applications' administration, programming and maintenance.
« We are delighted to be able to provide our students with a specific training on large systems provided by both IBM and the Banque Postale. During these four and a half months, they will have the opportunity to be at the heart of the mainframes with IBM and to experience with the Banque Postale the everyday use of the information systems within a large company." says Olivier Comes, Business Relations Director at SUPINFO.
« It is a unique opportunity which gives our students a new dimension to add to their profile and to acquire experience in a much sought after speciality."
« The partnership with IBM in order to teach the courses should allow us to prepare new professionals who will be needed to replace those in place today on a specialists' platform which should still be in place for many years. IBM's latest investments are another proof of this situation.! (Our will to attract new competences within our Information Technologies structure). », says Philippe Blin, Information Systems Director for The Banque Postale. « Our expertise in this field will come as a complement to the technical training given by IBM's specialists and will allow SUPINFO students to better face the aspects of a company's life."
