The strength of this tool lies in content management through a robust and efficient search engine for quick access to information.

SharePoint can be installed in three ways:

  • On-Premise (Installation on the local servers of the company)c

  • Cloud (Installing SharePoint on the Cloud with Office 365).

  • Hybrid (Install on local corporate servers and Office 365 SharePoint Online, which provides an installation available internally within the enterprise and via the cloud).

Installation of SharePoint 2016 (On-Premise)

Prerequisites

We will proceed with the installation of SharePoint on Windows Server 2016.

For this, we must carry out a verification of the prerequisites.

SharePoint requires 16GB of RAM for development and testing, a 64-bit processor, and 80 GB of disk space for the system.

It is also required to have a functional Active Directory.

If you wish to have more information on the prerequisites according to your future needs do not hesitate to go to the SharePoint documentation available on the Microsoft website or directly on the following link: https://docs.Microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/install/hardware-and-software-requirements).

Add SharePoint management accounts

The necessary accounts:

  • sp_admin: The user is used to install SharePoint and the various utilities that are linked to it.

  • sp_farm: The user is used to configure and manage SharePoint.

  • SQL_Services: The user is used to configure and manage SQL databases

To do this simply, on your Active Directory Domain Service (ADDS), create an "organizational unit" named "SharePoint" and inside, create "Server" (to add SharePoint-related servers), "Users" ( To add all users related to SharePoint) and "Groups" (To add groups related to SharePoint).

The sp_admin, sp_farm, and SQL_Services users must have the necessary administrator privileges.

On the SharePoint server, add the three previously created users to the "Administrators" group. This is done in "Computer Management".
