IT Law - Internet Law and Intellectual Property

Introduction

IT law is the set of legal rules applicable to computer field.

 

IT law is influenced by very different legal sources; it is not homogeneous; it manages contracts between professionals (contract of creation), relations between individuals and professionals (access providers) ... it must respect the copyright law and individual freedoms.

 

In front of the intensification of the use of Internet by a number of increasingly important and different actors: companies, associations, institutions, communities, individuals… wheter it is for sell, communicate, exchange, inform…,  all students in Information Technology must be able to understand and control the bases of the right related to Internet and to acquire a knowledge of the legal environment relating to its use .

 

 So this course covers the principles of IT law, including the roles and responsibilities of different actors and the sectoral law through examples such as copyright, the law relating to patents, multimedia works, database, software

Learning path

    Objectives

    • Learn the basics of computer law,
    • Have an overview of the applicable standards (national, European, international), and types of possible resolutions of IT litigation
    • Understand the different legal systems and procedures for digital copyright, the multimedia work including the creation of website, patent, database and software
